Growing up, I wasn't exactly an academic success, much to my traditional Indian family's dismay, and went through a cringey "wannabe rudeboy" phase in my teens (which, thankfully, I outgrew). 😆
But I had serious ants in my pants to jump into the working world.
I started with basic sales roles before interning at Canary Wharf Group PLC. That experience was massively eye-opening. It ignited my passion for business and strategy, working on projects for Shell & Qatari Diar.
With this newfound passion, I pursued real estate investment education and launched two side-businesses in property sourcing and design services.
A few years later, I was headhunted by a PropTech startup where we participated in the Techstars Accelerator in Toronto, getting trained by North America's top C-Suite executives, enhancing my expertise in building, scaling, and running a business & brand.
This is where something clicked.
To my surprise, I felt so suffocated by the mind-numbing, outdated methods used by some of these big companies.
Honestly, I was just watching fresh startups become so dull by these practices! The innovation and creativity was dropping quicker than drunk bloke's kebab on a Friday night.
Our team at the time, thankfully, embraced the advice but applied our own innovative ideas and logic to things.
But this really triggered something in me to do things differently.
After 3.5 years in the role, I felt confident in my knowledge and decided to start my own venture. So in 2017, I founded 9 Designs. Initially a branding agency for real estate clients, where I injected FUN and creativity into everything we did, from strategy to design, digital, and marketing.
But over time, my focus shifted towards creating a positive impact, recognizing that brands are going to play a crucial role in shaping our future.
I believe that profit and impact can coexist, and our work, along with many other brands, has started to prove that.
Having built and worked with over 50 brands, in 2021 I then decided to launch Kiki Bhaur - Brand Strategy & Consulting, dedicated to making brand strategy actionable and FUN.
I've understood the importance of strategy throughout my whole business journey. But I've also understood that it needs a completely fresh approach.

So, today, as a brand strategist, that's what I'm doing. Helping businesses formulate and implement effective brand growth strategies through workshops and private consulting.
